The Biogeography and Global Change research line is based (but not only placed) at the department of Biodiversity and Evolutionary Biology of the Spanish "Museo Nacional de Ciencias Naturales" (CSIC) in Madrid.
Our mission is to contribute to an improved understanding of the dynamics of biogeographical systems, their relationship with historical and contemporary factors, the effect of global changes and disturbances on the composition of biological systems and the design of strategies for the conservation of biodiversity.
The group is currently engaged in studies involving biodiversity patterns, species distributions, conservation biogeography, global change, historical biogeography, island biogeography or mountain biogeography.
The Biodiversity and Global Change Laboratory provides advanced capability in field of global change biology, and has championed the development of conservation planning methodologies that take concern for climate change into account.
Twice a month the members of the group meet to discuss a selected publication
